Wanger Jones Helsley PC is pleased to announce that it has been selected as legal counsel to the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission (Fresno EOC) following a competitive request-for-proposal and interview process involving several regional law firms. The firm will provide legal services to the Fresno EOC in connection with litigated, transactional, and administrative matters.

The Fresno EOC is one of the largest nonprofit community action agencies in the San Joaquin Valley. Established in 1965 as part of the federal War on Poverty initiative, the organization administers a wide range of programs designed to help low-income individuals and families achieve economic stability and self-sufficiency. These programs include workforce development, early childhood education, housing assistance, energy assistance, senior services, and community health initiatives. Through these efforts, the Fresno EOC serves tens of thousands of residents throughout Fresno County each year and plays a critical role in advancing economic opportunity within the region. As outside counsel, Wanger Jones Helsley will assist the Fresno EOC with a variety of legal matters affecting its operations and programs, including regulatory compliance, contract and transactional work, governance matters, and litigation support where necessary.

The representation is led by Shareholder Jay A. Christofferson who has extensive experience in litigating actions in both State and Federal Courts throughout California. Mr. Christofferson has handled complex disputes involving breach of contract, fiduciary duty claims, business dissolution, insurance coverage disputes, and related commercial matters. He has successfully tried numerous arbitrations across the San Joaquin Valley and argued before both the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Court of Appeal. Mr. Christofferson represents clients in a variety of high stakes matters, including insurance coverage disputes and complex commercial litigation. In addition to his courtroom practice, he regularly advises businesses and organizations on risk management, dispute avoidance, and regulatory compliance.
