Mr. Christofferson is a shareholder of WJH. Mr. Christofferson practices in all areas of business litigation, including cases involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, business dissolution, joint venture, as well as subrogation, personal injury, insurance coverage disputes, employment, family law, estate planning, conservatorships, and guardianships. He has litigated a dozen court trials and arbitrations throughout the San Joaquin Valley, Los Angeles and San Diego and has successfully argued before the Ninth Circuit and the Third District Court of Appeals.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Int’l Specialty Lines Ins. v. KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc. (D. Or. 2011) U.S. Dist. LEXIS 28212, Ninth Circuit reversed in favor of our client after finding that an indemnity agreement was not conspicuous pursuant to the Oregon UCC.
  • F & H Construction v. ITT Hartford Ins. Co. (2004) 118 Cal.App.4th 364, ruling in favor of our client determining that there was no coverage for costs associated with repairing and/or modifying steel pile cap under a commercial general liability  policy.
  • Valley Air Conditioning & Repair, Inc. v. Beneficial Life Ins. Co. (E.D. Cal. 2008) 2008 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 102445, successfully litigated action under a life insurance policy against assertions that coverage was available despite the misrepresentation made in procuring the   policy.
  • Alco Iron & Metal Co. v. American International Specialty Lines Ins. Co. (N.D. Cal. 2012)
  • U.S. Dist. LEXIS 166692, successful motion for summary judgment against insured seeking coverage for fees, costs and damages associated with the conversion of a rail   spur.
  • Mr. Christofferson has successfully resolved 100 subrogation matters involving cases concerning employment, personal injury and construction defects. Mr. Christofferson has also successfully defended personal injury cases.  In 2018, he also helped obtain a $36 million stipulated judgment in an eminent domain case.  (State of California v. Center Point LLC, Madera County Superior Court Case No. MCV072655.)

  • Mr. Christofferson has spoken at the California Real Property Conference. He has also published a chapter on solar and wind energy in the book Neighbor Disputes published by CEB in 2014.
  • Mr. Christofferson was selected by his peers as the commencement speaker at McGeorge Law School in 1999.
  • Mr. Christofferson was selected as a captain of the UCSB track team for the 1991-1992 season. Finally, Mr. Christofferson has served as an editor for the CEB Book Business “Office Leasing: Drafting and Negotiating the Lease” for the period 2008-2019.

Community Involvement

  • Mr. Christofferson is an active member of the Fresno County Bar Association and a former officer with the Fresno County Young Lawyers in 2002-2003. Mr. Christofferson coaches youth baseball in the Bullard Cal-Ripken baseball league, Bullard flag football, youth soccer in the Fig Garden Youth Soccer League, and regularly scores mock trial for Fresno State and high school tournaments.
  • Mr. Christofferson has volunteered at Center for Advanced Research and Technology in Clovis, CA, for development of high school student presentations 2017-2020.
