Mr. Jones was admitted to the practice of law in the state of California in 1982. His practice areas include criminal defense, white-collar criminal defense and civil litigation in all state and federal courts. Mr. Jones was a Chief Defense Attorney with the Fresno County Public Defender’s Office, where he was employed for over 25 years, before leaving to enter into private practice.
REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS
- Over the past 37 years Mr. Jones has personally tried or been directly involved with over one hundred trials, including some of the most publicized jury trials in Fresno County history. He was lead defense counsel in People v. Ramadan Abdullah, People v. Dana Ewell, People v. Marcus Wesson and a number of other high profile homicide and death penalty cases. His extensive trial experience has also been drawn upon to assist the firm in preparing for and/or conducting civil jury trials in a number of successful plaintiff cases involving a wide range of areas, including malicious prosecution, defamation and wrongful termination.

HONORS & PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
- Mr. Jones is a contributor to the Judicial Council of California Criminal Jury Instructions (CALCRIM). Over the course of his career he has been a guest speaker and presenter at various service clubs and local Bench Bar and Media events; and has conducted Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) courses for attorneys on a wide range of topics in criminal law.
- Mr. Jones is admitted to practice law in the state of California, in the United States District Court, Eastern District of California, and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of California Attorneys for Criminal Justice (CACJ), and a member of the Capital Case Panels for Fresno and Merced Counties.
Community Involvement
- Mr. Jones has been requested, and consistently volunteered, to be a guest speaker on criminal law and procedure, and crime and punishment, generally, at various service clubs, valley high schools, and California State University, Fresno, since 1986.
